Human...

I walked the road of life,
that ancient road of dust.
I walked swiftly,
and with every step,
the earth surrendered a little of itself
and rose behind me in clouds.
Dust that carried me farther
from those who followed,
dust that blurred their vision
and made me seem farther ahead.
Yet slowly…
so slowly…
the dust settled.
And beneath it,
the road began to forget my footsteps.
Footsteps once strong,
then weary with the weight of pain—
footsteps that had pressed deeper and deeper
into the earth,
as though searching for the place
from which I had first emerged.
The earth from which I was born…
the earth to which, one day,
I would return.
I kept walking.
Farther.
Faster.
Deeper into time.
Until the road that had carried me
finally became my grave,
and the earth opened its silent arms
and hid me within its darkness.
But the footsteps behind me continued.
Those who once followed me
walked over the very ground
that had become my resting place.
They stepped upon the dust of my journey
without knowing
that somewhere beneath their feet
lay the remains of the one
who had once walked ahead of them.
And so I understood:
I had not escaped the dust.
I had only become part of it.
The dust I once left behind
was now the dust they carried forward.
And one day,
they too would become footsteps,
then silence,
then earth,
then memory.
I walked forward
until nothing of me remained
but a fading trace upon the road—
a whisper in the wind,
a footprint beneath the dust,
a name carried quietly through time.
And yet…
perhaps nothing truly disappeared.
For what remains of a human being
is not the body that returns to earth,
nor the footsteps that time erases.
It is the love they left behind.
The kindness they gave.
The wounds they healed.
The lives they touched.
The memories they planted
in the hearts of others.
And somewhere beyond the reach of dust,
beyond the silence of the grave,
beyond the fragile boundaries of time,
there remains
the one thing the earth cannot bury:
**the memory of a human being…**
**the memory of a soul
that never dies.**
